The position:

The Junior Vessel Accountant will support the accounting function of a U.S.-listed company by providing financial services to its U.S.-based office. The selected candidate will be responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with deadlines across daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycles.

Day to day activities:

• Payments (using online banking system)

• Booking of invoices

• Analysis and reconciliation of customer statements

• Analysis and reconciliation of vendor statements

Weekly/Monthly activities:

• Prepare weekly cash position to send to management

• Prepare bank reconciliations

• Reconciliation of luboil inventory

• Analysis and reconciliation of intercompany balances and transactions

• Booking and analysis of running costs accruals

Quarterly activities

• Verify the adequacy and accuracy of financial records prior to quarter-end closing.

• Book closing journals

• Reconciliation of interfaces with external IT systems

• Support the team to meet the closing deadlines

• Collect and provide supporting documents for quarterly and year-end audits

• Assist the finance team with ad hoc tasks and special projects as required

Your profile:

• Accounting / Economic background

• 1-3 years’ experience in an accounting role
